Ruqyah

Why can you do it in front of your friends, but not at home?

Your wife is running after your shifa, and the moment you step into the house, you give up on everything. The Shaykh says — keep a balance; she is an amanah (a trust) with you.

Your wife is running after your shifa, and the moment you step into the house, you give up on everything. The Shaykh says — keep a balance; she is an amanah (a trust) with you.

The scene the Shaykh described

How many wives are running after their husband's shifa — going to the raqi, searching for amal, staying up at night making dua.

And that husband falls apart the moment he enters the house. He leaves every responsibility to his wife's compassion — the household, the children, the medicine, everything.

Yet outside, with his friends, he holds himself together just fine. He eats, laughs, spends time — he does not fall apart there.

The Shaykh's honest word

Yes, there is some sihr (magic) that works only inside the home — this is true. But brother, keep a balance.

She is your better half, an amanah (a trust) with you; she has her rights. Give her at home a little more than the effort you put in before your friends. Do not give up on everything.

The evidence — living together in kindness

O you who have believed, it is not lawful for you to inherit women by compulsion. And do not make difficulties for them in order to take [back] part of what you gave them unless they commit a clear immorality [i.e., adultery]. And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allāh makes therein much good. (Surah An-Nisaa 4:19 — Saheeh International; meaning of the complete verse)

The verse is for difficult times — even within what you dislike, Allah places good. In these days of illness, keeping good relations with her is your great amal.

What to do today

  1. When you enter the house, keep your first sentence gentle — just this much today.
  2. Thank her once a day — even for a small task.
  3. Carry out your own ruqyah yourself — not all the responsibility on her shoulders.
  4. Make ruqyah and dua for her too — she is also getting tired.
