Shaykh Wahid Abdus Salam Bali has given clear signs for recognizing a sorcerer, and also a complete program you can follow at home.

Signs of a Sorcerer

Many people claim to treat with the Qur'an and even recite a few verses (ayahs) — yet something else goes on inside. The Shaykh has given several signs, and if even one of them matches, you must stop.

  • He wants to know your name and your mother's name
  • He writes letters, numbers or stars in square grids divided into cells — these are talismans
  • He tells you to bring a particular kind of incense
  • He hands you a wrapped amulet and says — do not open it

The Shaykh also told of an incident from his student days — when an amulet was opened, inside was a page torn from a school notebook, with history questions and answers written on it.

The Shaykh's Answer

Sihr (magic) is real — Allah mentioned it in the Qur'an itself (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse (ayah) 102). But it is not permissible to break sihr with sihr.

The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever goes to a fortune-teller and asks him anything, his prayer is not accepted for forty days. And when the Mu'awwidhat are recited, sihr is nullified right there — there is no need to bring it out.

Evidence — Where Refuge Lies

وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّٰثَٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ

And from the evil of the blowers in knots (Surah Al-Falaq 113:4 — Saheeh International)

وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

And from the evil of an envier when he envies." (Surah Al-Falaq 113:5 — Saheeh International)

Sihr was done upon the Prophet ﷺ; Jibril (peace be upon him) was reciting the Mu'awwidhat and with each verse (ayah) one knot was being undone. (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

What to Do

  1. Pray salah (prayer) on time — especially Fajr; do not skip the morning and evening adhkar.
  2. Say Bismillah at the start of every task; at night, make wudu, recite Ayat al-Kursi and the last two verses (ayahs) of Surah Al-Baqarah, and then sleep.
  3. Every day, spend some time reciting and listening to the Mu'awwidhat and Ayat al-Kursi yourself — for two to three weeks.
  4. Not at the door of a sorcerer or a kabiraj. If the symptoms do not lessen, take a doctor's advice.
