Alone in the Palace, with Only Dua
Shaykh Bali says: Sarah (peace be upon her) stood in prayer and made dua — and again and again the man stretched out his hand toward her and stopped.

Shaykh Bali says: Sarah (peace be upon her) stood in prayer and made dua — and again and again the man stretched out his hand toward her and stopped.
How the Scene Was
During a famine, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) went to Egypt with his wife Sarah — in search of provision, and to call people to Allah.
The ruler of that land was a tyrant. Whenever news of a beautiful woman reached him, she would be taken away; if she was married, her husband would be killed.
The news reached the ruler. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) told Sarah beforehand: in this land there is no believer except you and me; so you are my sister in faith.
Then the guards came and took her to the palace. The door was shut. She understood what was about to happen.
The Shaykh's Explanation
She stood up in prayer — "O Allah, do not give this disbeliever power over me."
Shaykh Bali narrates: as soon as the man stretched out his hand, he collapsed and began kicking his legs. He said, "Call upon your Lord; I will not harm you." She called upon Him, and he was released. This happened again and again.
In the end he became afraid, and realized that she was a friend of Allah. He returned Sarah with honor, and gave Hajar along with her. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was still standing in prayer, making dua. This incident is narrated in Sahih Bukhari.
Evidence — When the Distressed Call
Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allāh? Little do you remember. (Surah An-Naml 27:62 — Saheeh International)
Shaykh Bali says: Sarah (peace be upon her) did not take refuge in any amulet and did not run to anyone's door — salah and dua, these two alone were her weapons.
What to Do
- In a moment of hardship, stand in salah before anything else — this is the strongest refuge.
- In your dua, make your own good deeds a means of approach — faith, purity, trustworthiness.
- No tyrant's power is outside Allah's command — do not give fear a place.
- When the hardship has passed, express gratitude; the rescue came from Him alone.
