Those Whom Allah Will Not Even Look At

Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) cried out — They are ruined! Who are they, O Messenger of Allah? In reply, three kinds of people were mentioned.
The three who were mentioned
- The Musbil — one who lets his garment hang below the ankles out of arrogance and to show off
- Mannan — one who gives or does a favour and taunts
- One who sells goods by swearing a false oath
The Shaykh says — the third one may make a great deal of profit in six months, because people believe his oath. But there is no barakah in his wealth; with a single phone call, several times that profit slips away.
The Shaykh's reply
A small profit with barakah is better than a profit that is large but without barakah.
Reminding people of your favor destroys the reward of the sadaqah — Allah has said: do not nullify your charity by reminders and hurt (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 264). And the honest and trustworthy merchant will be, on the Day of Resurrection, with the prophets, the siddiqin and the martyrs.
The evidence — the three people
There are three kinds of people to whom Allah will not speak on the Day of Resurrection, nor look at them, nor purify them; and for them is a painful punishment. (Sahih Muslim)
The Shaykh reminds us — "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you will be asked about his responsibility." We will be questioned about the people of our home as well. (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
What to do
- Keep your garment or trousers above the ankles — there is no shame in following the Sunnah.
- If you give someone something or help them, do not mention it again.
- Give up oaths in buying and selling; if the goods have a defect, tell the buyer openly.
- Keep track of everyone's prayer and hijab at home — with gentle words, not with blame.
