Shaykh Bali unfolds the questions one by one — age, youth, knowledge and wealth. There is no way out but to prepare your answers starting today.

How the Questions Will Come

The first question — in what did you finish your life? Not by the year; but day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment.

Did you pray Fajr on Saturday? Did you recite your adhkar? Did you lower your gaze on the road? Sitting with your colleagues, did you guard your tongue?

Saying 'I forgot' will not do — the Shaykh says, everything will come back. Allah has counted it all, while people have forgotten (Surah Al-Mujadilah, verse 6).

The record written by the two angels will also be opened — there will be no place to flee.

The Shaykh's Answer

Of the four, the question about wealth comes in two parts — where it came from, and where it went.

The Shaykh says — the craftsman, the businessman, the teacher, the employee, all must stand right here. Did you tell the owner the real price? Did you disclose the defect in the goods? Did you work the full time and keep your salary halal? Then the question — in what did you spend it?

The Evidence — The Four Questions

On the Day of Resurrection, a servant's feet will not move until he is asked: how he spent his life, how he used up his youth, where he earned his wealth and where he spent it, and what amal (practice) he carried out with his knowledge. (Sunan at-Tirmidhi — hasan sahih)

The Shaykh's final words — the reckoning is easy only for the one for whom Allah makes it easy. So there is no way out but to keep your answers prepared starting today.

What to Do

  1. Find the empty time in your day — and set dhikr in it.
  2. Put the strength of your youth to use — night prayer, helping the needy, effort in good deeds.
  3. Follow at least one thing you have learned, starting today — without amal (practice), knowledge goes away.
  4. The sources of your income and the areas of your spending — open the ledger and look over both once.
