ruqyah

Where will you be tomorrow?

Shaykh Bali has painted the scene — one person will bring a hand to the nose to check for breath, another will place a hand on the chest to find a heartbeat.

Shaykh Bali has painted the scene — one person will bring a hand to the nose to check for breath, another will place a hand on the chest to find a heartbeat.

How the scene unfolds

Today you are in a spacious house, tomorrow in a narrow grave. Today above the earth, tomorrow beneath it. Tomorrow you will find yourself on your deathbed — with family, friends and brothers all around you.

Your mouth will not be able to say anything, but your inner self will say — This is the very day for which I should have done good deeds, should have prayed salah, should have stood up in the night.

  • Alas, what regret — if I did not pray Fajr
  • Alas, what regret — if I let my gaze loose on the haram
  • Alas, what regret — if I used my tongue against people's honor
  • What joy — if I took my own account myself

The Shaykh's reply

40, 50, 70, 90 years — all of it like a single moment. It passed with its good and bad, and now comes the reckoning of all of it.

The Shaykh says that the pleasure of music, obscene pictures and those websites is gone, and only regret remains. Remember — Allah is watching, your limbs will bear witness, and the two angels are writing it down.

So come back today. When death stands before you, even pleading to get back a single day will no longer help.

The evidence — everyone will have to taste it

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion. (Surah Aal-i-Imraan 3:185 — Saheeh International; meaning of the complete verse)

The Shaykh says, when the soul reaches the throat — that is the hardest moment. In Surah Al-Waqi'ah, verses 83 to 87, Allah has reminded us of exactly this moment.

What to do

  1. Pray the five daily salah on time — especially Fajr, starting today.
  2. Lower your gaze and guard your tongue — it is in these two that the most regret builds up.
  3. Increase your dhikr; be dutiful to your parents, and take up the night prayer.
  4. Make dua — Allahumma hawwin 'alayna sakaratil mawt.
