Wipe Away the Black Stain and Whiten Your Heart
Shaykh Bali says — the pillars of brightening the heart are three: leaving sin, repenting, and istighfar.

Shaykh Bali says — the pillars of brightening the heart are three: leaving sin, repenting, and istighfar.
How the Scene Unfolds
One forbidden glance, one backbiting, a lapse of focus in prayer — piling up over the day, the heart becomes heavy.
Someone falls into arrogance while talking about himself in a gathering. Someone else fasts, but does not guard his tongue.
The Shaykh says — sins are many, and many of them we do not even notice. Only those who take account of themselves pay attention.
The Prophet ﷺ said that every son of Adam makes mistakes; and the best of those who make mistakes are those who repent.
The Shaykh's Answer — Three Pillars
Naz‘, repentance, istighfar — these three together wipe the stain of sin from the heart.
Naz‘ means leaving the sin completely and resolving never to return to it. Repentance means returning to Allah. Istighfar means asking for forgiveness again and again.
The Shaykh also stressed the cause — whichever friend, place, number or profession is causing you to fall into sin, true repentance means leaving that cause as well.
The Evidence — What One Receives When Asking for Forgiveness
And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of Allāh will find Allāh Forgiving and Merciful. (Surah An-Nisaa 4:110 — Saheeh International)
It has come in a narration with a hasan chain — when a servant commits a sin, a black spot falls on the heart; when he leaves it, repents and asks for forgiveness, the heart is polished clean. (Musnad Ahmad, Sunan at-Tirmidhi)
What to Do
- Leave the sin, and leave what causes it too — company, places, numbers.
- If you miss Fajr, do not take it lightly — alarm, sleeping early, help from family members, and dua.
- Calculate your zakah and pay it — one-fortieth, with intention, into the hand of a poor person.
- Whenever you make a mistake, make istighfar right away — more than once, without delay.
