Shaykh Wahid Abdus Salam Bali says — Shaytan himself admitted that there is one group of people he can never lead astray. They are the mukhlis.

How the Scene Unfolds

Shaytan whispers in your ear — do not get up for Fajr, do not get up. But the one whose faith is strong defeats him, gets up, and prays salah.

He says — do not recite the Qur'an. The believer recites it anyway. He says — do not give sadaqah. The believer gives. He says — let your eyes wander. The believer lowers his gaze.

Yet for many of us, the opposite happens. We lose every day, and then we blame ourselves — I can't do this anymore.

So the question is just one — who wins? Shaykh Bali says the answer is written in Shaytan's own admission.

The Shaykh's Answer

Shaytan said — I will lead them all astray, except Your mukhlis servants.

So if you want to defeat Shaytan, you must hold on to ikhlas — doing the amal purely for Allah's pleasure; not for show, not for reputation, not for people's praise, and not for this world.

The Shaykh's preferred definition — to keep looking at the Creator so constantly that you forget the gaze of creation. For the mukhlis, people's praise and criticism become equal.

The Evidence — Everyone Has a Companion

Every one of you has been assigned a companion from among the jinn. The Companions said, Even you, O Messenger of Allah? He said, Even me; but Allah has helped me against him, so he has submitted. (Sahih Muslim 2814)

In verses 82-83 of Surah Sad, the words of Iblis — By Your honor, I will lead them all astray, except Your mukhlis servants among them.

What to Do

  1. Look again at the intention behind the amal you are doing — is it purely for Allah?
  2. Voluntary prayers, tahajjud, sadaqah — do not tell anyone.
  3. Do not go around sending photos of Hajj or Umrah; make dua in secret, without letting anyone know.
  4. Do not have your name written on a mosque or a charitable project — let the amal be for Allah alone.
