The Dua Between the Two Prostrations
Shaykh Bali calls this sitting — the sitting of etiquette before your Lord. Here you ask for just one thing, and you ask for it again and again.

Shaykh Bali calls this sitting — the sitting of etiquette before your Lord. Here you ask for just one thing, and you ask for it again and again.
How the Question Came
A question came in — could you explain a little the dua between the two prostrations?
The Shaykh says that two hadiths have come on this matter. The first — only “Rabbighfir li”, repeated again and again. The second — “Rabbighfir li, warhamni, wa 'afini, wahdini, wajburni”.
The Shaykh made it clear that the first is more authentic (sahih) than the second.
And within this short sitting lies something great — a plea to have your own broken place mended.
The Shaykh's Answer
Here, sit stubbornly with this one request — Rabbighfir li, Rabbighfir li, Rabbighfir li.
The Shaykh says it is not just words on the tongue — while saying it, remember your sins. “Rabbighfir li” means: forgive this sin, forgive that shortcoming.
The meaning of the words of the second hadith: cover me with Your mercy, keep me safe from illness, hardship and sin, guide me along the path You love, and mend my broken place.
Evidence — The Dua Between the Two Prostrations
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَعَافِنِي وَاهْدِنِي وَاجْبُرْنِي
O my Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, keep me safe, guide me, and mend my broken state. (Sunan Abu Dawud and Sunan at-Tirmidhi)
The word “wajburni” comes from the meaning of setting a broken bone — just as a broken arm is bound and straightened, so too the broken heart.
What to Do
- Do not rush between the two prostrations — sit still, with your hands on your knees.
- Say “Rabbighfir li” more than once — this is the more authentic dua.
- While saying it, remember a specific sin or shortcoming.
- If your heart is broken, ask while keeping in mind the meaning of “wajburni” — this is where it is mended.
