The Kaaba's foundation rises in a grateful home

Shaykh Bali says, Ismail (peace be upon him) understood whom those words were about. And the house that gave thanks was the one that remained — from there the foundation of the Ka'bah rose.

Shaykh Bali says, Ismail (peace be upon him) understood whom those words were about. And the house that gave thanks was the one that remained — from there the foundation of the Ka'bah rose.

How the Scene Was

Ibrahim (peace be upon him) came from Sham to see his son. Ismail (peace be upon him) was out hunting. He asked his daughter-in-law — How are you all doing?

She complained — We are in hardship, we are struggling. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said, Give your husband my salam when he comes, and tell him — he should change the threshold of his door.

Later, the other wife was asked the same question. She said — Alhamdulillah, we are well; our food is meat, our drink is water.

This time the message came the opposite way — 'Hold on to the threshold of your door.' And Ibrahim (peace be upon him) made dua that Allah would grant barakah in their meat and water.

The Shaykh's Explanation

Shaykh Bali says — The wife who conceals her husband's want, Allah conceals her in this world and the Hereafter.

After this, Allah commanded Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to build the House. He said to his son — Allah has given me a command. Ismail (peace be upon him) said — Dear father, do what Allah has commanded you.

The father laid the stones, the son handed them forward, and both of them said — 'Our Lord, accept this from us; indeed You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.' (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 127)

Evidence — The Reward of Gratitude

And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.'" (Surah Ibrahim 14:7 — Saheeh International)

When the House was complete, Allah told him to announce the Hajj. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said — Will my voice reach them? The answer came: The calling is your task; the reaching is Mine.

What to Do

  1. Do not go around telling others about the lack in your home — when you conceal it, Allah conceals you too.
  2. Give thanks for what you have — gratitude is the way barakah increases.
  3. Teach your children from a young age — 'Do what Allah has commanded.'
  4. After doing good deeds, do not make claims; make dua for acceptance — 'Rabbana taqabbal minna'.
