◐ Experience of the righteous elders — There is nothing in the method that contradicts the Shariah, but the number and the duration are not rulings fixed by the Shariah.
Method
- Begin when ten days remain in the third month of pregnancy.
- Pray two rak'ahs of repentance prayer.
- Recite Surah Yasin seven times; then three more times with the intention of ease in childbirth.
- At the beginning and at the end, recite salawat upon the Prophet three times each.
- Make dua for as long as the recitation took — keeping the five intentions below in mind.
Duration: Forty days continuously
The Five Intentions — The True Beauty of This Practice
- "O Allah! Make this child righteous and good."
- "O Allah! Protect this child from misfortune."
- "O Allah! Protect this child from poverty and want."
- "O Allah! Make this child obedient to their parents."
- "O Allah! Let this child's end be upon faith." — This is the most important intention.
The Raqi's Note
Making dua for a child from the time of pregnancy — this is the Sunnah of the prophets. Ibrahim (peace be upon him), Zakariya (peace be upon him), the wife of Imran — their duas are preserved in the Qur'an. These five intentions are a beautiful application of that same tradition.
The remaining notes, sources and cautions for this practice are given in detail in the book.
