Can the house be mopped with recited-over water?
Shaykh Bali answered with a question of his own — why are you doing this? If the fear is of the evil eye or sihr (magic), then the way for the house is easier and better.

Shaykh Bali answered with a question of his own — why are you doing this? If the fear is of the evil eye or sihr (magic), then the way for the house is easier and better.
How the question comes
There is unrest in the house, sleep does not come, the children cry for no reason. Someone gives advice — mop the whole house with recited-over water.
Then it begins: collecting bottles, having the water recited over, mopping the house week after week. The effort grows, the expense grows, yet there is still no peace of mind.
So the question was put directly to the Shaykh — is it permissible to mop the house with water that the Qur'an has been recited over?
The answer began with a counter-question — why are you doing this?
The Shaykh's answer
Recite yourself in the house — in every corner of it; this is better and takes priority over mopping with water.
Recite the Mu'awwidhat and Ayat al-Kursi in the house, and recite them again and again. And if you can, recite the whole of Surah Al-Baqarah once every three days — the Prophet ﷺ said that Shaytan flees from a house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited.
Evidence — the name of Allah when entering the house
When a person mentions the name of Allah on entering his house and at mealtime, Shaytan says: there is no place for you to spend the night and no dinner. (Sahih Muslim 2018)
Regarding Surah Al-Baqarah, the Prophet ﷺ said — Do not turn your houses into graveyards; Shaytan flees from a house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited. (Sahih Muslim 780)
What to do
- Recite yourself in every corner of the house — Ayat al-Kursi and the Mu'awwidhat, again and again.
- If you can, recite the whole of Surah Al-Baqarah in the house once every three days, or recite it aloud so that the household can hear.
- When entering the house, let everyone mention the name of Allah — the children, your wife, and you yourself.
- Make it a habit to say "Bismillah" with every entry into a room, and whenever you put something down or pick it up.
