Ruqyah Protocol
Sexual harassment in dreams
Protection from the whispers of jinn and Shaytan — a simple solution without shame

Introduction — who this protocol is for
Many people experience something in their sleep that leaves discomfort, shame and guilt after they wake up — even though there was no deliberate act of their own in it. The Qur'an itself describes confused, restless dreams as "adghathu ahlam" (jumbled, imagined dreams) (12:44, 21:5) — meaning there is no need to look for a meaning or a fault behind every disturbing dream. Often this discomfort can be the whispering/harassment of a jinn or Shaytan, which Allah Himself has called the "filthy work" of Shaytan (5:90) — meaning this discomfort is not your sin, but merely a disturbance coming from outside. This protocol has been arranged with this reality in mind — to bring peace and security back to the heart through a simple bath practice and verses of protection for sleep, without adding extra fiqh-related fear about impurity.
Signs for which this protocol may help
- Feeling something in your sleep that seems uncomfortable or shameful, which you feel hesitant to tell anyone
- Seeing scenes in a dream in which you seem to have felt an uncomfortable touch or pressure on your body
- Feeling impure after waking up, and wanting to bathe again and again
- Seeing the same kind of disturbing dream again and again, especially at a particular time of night
- Feeling afraid to sleep or restless when night comes, a feeling of pressure on the chest during sleep
- Feeling guilty or ashamed because of a dream, even though you did not do anything deliberately
- Feeling numb for a while after waking up, or a feeling of being unable to move
- Being unable to tell anyone about the matter, and holding the worry inside alone
Important note: Most of the signs above can also have ordinary physical or psychological causes. So first get the necessary medical tests and treatment. Ruqyah runs alongside medical treatment, not as a replacement for it. Do not conclude with certainty that someone is affected by sihr or jinn just because a sign matches.

Opening duas
Make wudu and sit facing the qiblah. Make the intention: through the Word of Allah, I am asking Allah alone for healing.
I begin in the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the heavens or on the earth can cause harm; He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Recite: 3 times
Nothing can cause sudden harm to the one who recites this dua in the morning and evening. (Tirmidhi 3388)
In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Meaning: Surah Al-Faatiha 1:1, Saheeh International.
Recite: 19 times
Before starting the ruqyah, settle your focus and your intention, then recite.
I seek refuge in the perfect Words of Allah from the evil of all that He has created.
Recite: 3 times
(Muslim 2708)
What the dream might really be — the Qur'an's guidance
After waking up, recite slowly, and hold the belief in your heart that there is nothing to fear.
He said, "O my son, do not relate your vision to your brothers or they will contrive against you a plan. Indeed Satan, to man, is a manifest enemy.
Recite: 3 times
Intention: The warning of Yaqub (peace be upon him) — Shaytan is a clear enemy of mankind; this warning came in the context of a dream itself
And [subsequently] the king said, "Indeed, I have seen [in a dream] seven fat cows being eaten by seven [that were] lean, and seven green spikes [of grain] and others [that were] dry. O eminent ones, explain to me my vision, if you should interpret visions." They said, "[It is but] a mixture of false dreams, and we are not learned in the interpretation of dreams."
Recite: 3 times
Intention: The king's courtiers called his dream a 'jumbled/imagined dream' (adghathu ahlam) — it is not necessary to look for the meaning of every disturbing dream
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."
Recite: 3 times
Intention: The Qur'an itself calls frightening/confusing dreams 'false dreams' — a verse to ease the mind
Verses of Allah's protection, peaceful sleep and a simple solution
It can be recited at both times — just before sleeping and after waking up.

Surah As-Saaffaat 37:102
And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allāh wills, of the steadfast."
Recite: 3 times
Intention: The dream of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was full of guidance from Allah — proof that dreams are under Allah's control
5
Surah As-Saaffaat 37:105
You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
Recite: 3 times
Intention: Allah's declaration — 'You have fulfilled the vision', the hope of good dreams as a reward for righteous deeds
Certainly has Allāh showed to His Messenger the vision [i.e., dream] in truth. You will surely enter al-Masjid al-Ḥarām, if Allāh wills, in safety, with your heads shaved and [hair] shortened, not fearing [anyone]. He knew what you did not know and has arranged before that a conquest near [at hand].
Recite: 3 times
Intention: Allah showed the Prophet ﷺ a true dream as well — to firmly establish the assurance of peace and security in the heart
[Remember, O Muḥammad], when Allāh showed them to you in your dream as few; and if He had shown them to you as many, you [believers] would have lost courage and would have disputed in the matter [of whether to fight], but Allāh saved [you from that]. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
Recite: 3 times
Intention: Before Badr, Allah showed the Prophet ﷺ the scene in a dream as easy — every scene of sleep and dreams is in Allah's hands alone
O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allāh], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.
Recite: 1 time
Intention: Filthy/impure acts come from the activities of Shaytan — there is no need to increase fear by thinking it is your own sin; just take a bath and move on simply
Special duas — Sexual harassment in dreams
These duas are arranged specifically for this problem. Recite them after you finish the verses.
O Allah! Burn away every harassment of Shaytan in my sleep and dreams.
Recite: 7 times
In the name of Allah — all control over my sleep and dreams is hereby nullified.
Recite: 7 times
O Allah! By Your strength and power, undo every knot tied in my sleep and dreams.
Recite: 7 times
O Allah! I seek Your refuge from the harm of what I see in my sleep, and from the plots and harassment of Shaytan. Protect my body and my heart while I am asleep.
Recite: 3 times, just before sleeping
It can be recited every night before sleeping, added to the other Sunnah duas.
O Allah! Purify my heart and body from what I have seen, and keep the whispers of Shaytan far from me. You are Pure, and You love purity.
Recite: 1 time, after waking up and before the bath
Reciting it before the bath brings peace to the mind; there is no need for extra worry about impurity.
O Allah! Tonight I entrust my self and my body to You. Protect me from every harm that I do not even notice, and make my sleep pure and safe.
Recite: 3 times, after the dua for lying down to sleep
It can be recited right after the dua for lying down to sleep.
Closing surahs and duas
End every session this way. At the end, blow into water and drink it.

Jibril (peace be upon him) performed ruqyah over the Prophet ﷺ in this way. (Muslim 2186)
O Allah, Lord of mankind! Remove the hardship and grant healing. You are the Healer; there is no healing except Your healing — a healing that leaves no illness behind.
Recite: 7 times
(Bukhari 5743)
📌 Self-ruqyah guideline
Consistency is the key. A little every day, but regularly.
Method — step by step
- Make wudu, then sit somewhere quiet facing the qiblah. Keep your phone away.
- Make the intention: I am asking Allah for healing through the Words of Allah; the Words have no power of their own — the power belongs to Allah.
- Recite the opening duas (Chapter 1).
- Then recite the verses (ayahs) in order. While reciting, blow lightly into both palms and pass your hands over the affected area.
- Recite each verse as many times as stated in the instruction box below it — there is no need to do more or less.
- In between, make dua wholeheartedly in your own language for 15 minutes. If tears come, do not hold them back.
- At the end, recite the closing surahs and duas, then blow lightly into the water.
- Continue every day for at least 40 days. If you miss some days, do not lose heart — simply start again.
Daily schedule
| Morning | After Fajr — verse recitation, 15 minutes |
| Evening | After Maghrib — verse recitation, 15 minutes |
| Night | Before sleeping — closing surahs and duas, drink recited-over water |
| Weekly | One ruqyah bath a week |
Your own dua in your own language (15 minutes)
During or after the recitation of the verses, ask Allah in your own language. Below is a sample — you do not have to read exactly this; say it in your own words.
O Allah, my sleep, my dreams — everything is in Your hands alone. Tonight do not let any whisper of Shaytan, any harassment, enter my sleep. Keep my body and heart in Your own protection. If I ever do see something like that, then remove all shame and guilt from my heart — because I know I had no intention in it. You are Pure, You love purity — keep me too pure and safe.
Where to massage the recited-over oil
Focus for Sexual harassment in dreams: On the forehead and chest — just before sleeping and immediately upon waking up
Supplements and weekly practices
| Recited-over water | Recite the ruqyah verses over a bottle of water and blow into it. Drink it 3 times a day: in the morning on an empty stomach, at midday, and at night before sleeping. |
| Recited-over honey | Blow into pure honey and take one spoonful every morning. It is good to recite verse 69 of Surah An-Nahl and then blow into it. |
| Recited-over olive oil | Recite the verses over olive oil, blow into it, and massage it into the affected area. It is best done at night before sleeping. |
| Black seed (nigella) | Every morning, take 7 black seeds with recited-over honey. The Prophet ﷺ said that black seed contains a cure for every disease except death. (Bukhari 5688) |
| Ruqyah bath | Recite the verses over a bucket of water and blow into it. You may also mix in seven crushed jujube leaves. Pour the water over yourself from the head down and bathe, once a week. |
| Spraying the home | Put recited-over water in a spray bottle and spray it in the corners of the house, on the doors and windows, and under the bed. |
Daily practices (amal)
Alongside ruqyah, it is these practices that give long-term protection.
| After Fajr | Surah Yasin 1 time |
| Morning and evening | The morning and evening adhkar from Hisnul Muslim, regularly |
| After Asr | Surah Al-Waqi'ah 1 time |
| At night | Surah Qaf 3 times, Surah Al-Mulk 1 time |
| Before sleeping | Ayat al-Kursi 1 time, the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, and the three Quls 3 times each. Blow into your hands and wipe them over your whole body. |
| Every day | Give sadaqah as much as you can, every day, even if only a little. Sadaqah wards off calamity. |
| Every day | The obligatory salah in congregation, istighfar 100 times, salawat upon the Prophet 100 times |
Ruqyah is a Shariah-based method of treatment; it is not a substitute for necessary medical treatment.
