When magic is broken, does the magician himself suffer harm? Let us understand the matter with a calm, balanced outlook, without exaggeration.

First, Understand This

Sihr (magic) stands on an agreement between the magician and the Shaytan: the magician gives forbidden obedience, and in return the Shaytan causes harm. When magic is broken, this very agreement is affected.

What Can Happen to the Magician

  • The benefits stop — the devils do not work for free; when the work fails, they demand more obedience from the magician, or else they torment him instead
  • Returning back — according to many scholars, when magic is rendered ineffective, it can return to the magician and to the one who had the magic done, especially if it finds no more room in the body of the afflicted person
  • Severe mental turmoil — when the work fails, the magician himself suffers fear, anxiety and unease, because he knows the fear of the devils' revenge
  • Losing control — the magician lives in a false pride of power; when he sees the afflicted person recovering, his confidence collapses

It Will Not Always Be Visible

You may not see the magician suffer or fall ill right away. This is a matter of the unseen, and Allah, in His wisdom, may also delay the punishment.

Allah has said — "Wa la yuflihus sahiru haythu ata" — the magician will not succeed wherever he goes. This is an unshakable divine law. Temporary success is not true success.

The Real Question — What Will Happen to You

A more important question than what happens to the magician is what will happen to you when the magic is broken. When magic is broken, sudden inner peace, better sleep, the release of ta'attil, a lightness in the body, a decrease in obsessive thoughts, and freedom from nightmares and dreams of jinn — these are the real goals.

An Important Piece of Advice

Do not stay busy with revenge or with news about the magician — even if you have turned it back with some adhkar or a Surah, do not trouble your mind about its outcome.

Keep yourself busy with dhikr and obedience. True shifa (healing) is not completed merely by the breaking of magic — it is completed in the stability that comes after it.

Final Word

Whoever relies on Allah, Allah is enough for him. Whoever seeks refuge in Allah, He protects him. And whoever oppresses people with sihr or anything else, there is surely a day for him to stand before Allah.

May Allah nullify every magic, turn the plot of every oppressor back upon him, and keep all of us in His protection. Ameen.
