Marid Jinn
Verses and method against the marid Shaytan-jinn — ruqyah for a difficult, resistant and long-lasting affliction

Introduction — who this protocol is for
The word marid appears in the Qur'an itself — "Shaytanum marid" (the rebellious/arrogant Shaytan) — in Surah An-Nisa verse 117, Surah Al-Hajj verse 3 and Surah As-Saffat verse 7. It refers to a kind of jinn/Shaytan that is more stubborn and resistant than ordinary waswasa or a short-term affliction — it does not respond easily even to regular ruqyah, the symptoms seem more intense at first, or they keep returning after temporary relief. However, the Qur'an itself reassures us — even this marid has no power to cause any real harm without Allah's permission (Surah Al-Mujadilah 10). A caution: during ruqyah, do not engage in conversation with the jinn, and do not ask for its identity or reason — just keep reciting the Qur'an, be patient; if necessary, it may take longer than usual.
Signs for which this protocol may help
- Symptoms not decreasing despite continuing regular ruqyah, and instead the reaction becoming more intense when the Qur'an is heard
- Trying to hurt oneself or others with tremendous force during ruqyah
- The body not coming under control even while using many times more strength than normal — being hard to hold down even with several people together
- The same problem returning again and again, going back to the old intensity after temporary relief
- Intense terror, a feeling of suffocation or choking at a particular time of night
- Terrifying nightmares during sleep, waking up with scratch marks or unexplained wounds
- Intense anger or aggressive behavior appearing as soon as the adhan or recitation of the Qur'an is heard
- No cause being found by any treatment for a long time, symptoms fluctuating again and again
Important note: Most of the signs above can also have ordinary physical or psychological causes. So first get the necessary medical tests and treatment. Ruqyah runs alongside medical treatment, not as a replacement for it. Do not conclude with certainty that someone is affected by sihr or jinn just because a sign matches.

Opening duas
Make wudu and sit facing the qiblah. Make the intention: through the Word of Allah, I am asking Allah alone for healing.
I begin in the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the heavens or on the earth can cause harm; He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Recite: 3 times
Nothing can cause sudden harm to the one who recites this dua in the morning and evening. (Tirmidhi 3388)
In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Meaning: Surah Al-Faatiha 1:1, Saheeh International.
Recite: 19 times
Before starting the ruqyah, settle your focus and your intention, then recite.
I seek refuge in the perfect Words of Allah from the evil of all that He has created.
Recite: 3 times
(Muslim 2708)
The main verses against the marid Shaytan
Recite aloud, with clear pronunciation. With a marid, the reaction may come late or may seem more intense at first — do not stop.
And as protection against every rebellious devil
Recite: 11 times
Intention: Seeking protection with Allah from every marid Shaytan
They call upon instead of Him none but female [deities], and they [actually] call upon none but a rebellious Satan,
Recite: 7 times
Intention: Remembering the true nature of the futile worship of the marid Shaytan
And of the people is he who disputes about Allāh without knowledge and follows every rebellious devil.
Recite: 7 times
Intention: Freeing the heart from following the marid Shaytan out of ignorance
Verses that prove the marid's real powerlessness
These very verses remind us of the marid's true position — however powerful he may seem, he can do nothing without Allah's permission.
And incite [to senselessness] whoever you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them." But Satan does not promise them except delusion.
Recite: 7 times
Intention: The marid's whispering and promises are nothing but deception
And Iblees had already confirmed through them his assumption, so they followed him, except for a party of believers.
Recite: 3 times
Intention: Iblis's assumption was only a test; the true believers did not follow his path
6
Surah Al-Mujaadila 58:10
Private conversation is only from Satan that he may grieve those who have believed, but he will not harm them at all except by permission of Allāh. And upon Allāh let the believers rely.
Recite: 7 times
Intention: The marid cannot cause any real harm without Allah's permission — keep tawakkul
And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allāh]
Recite: 7 times
Intention: Allah arranges protection from every accursed marid Shaytan
Daily refuge and protection
Since a marid case can be long-term, continue this daily refuge amal consistently for at least 40 days.
And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allāh. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
Recite: 7 times
Intention: Seeking refuge in Allah immediately upon sensing even the slightest evil whisper
So when you recite the Qur’ān, [first] seek refuge in Allāh from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy].
Recite: 7 times
Intention: Beginning with A'udhu billah before reciting the Qur'an
Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze.
Recite: 3 times
Intention: Always regarding Shaytan/the marid as an enemy and staying alert
Special duas — Marid Jinn
These duas are arranged specifically for this problem. Recite them after you finish the verses.

Recite: 7 times
O Allah! With Your strength and power, undo every knot tied in my body and in my home.
Recite: 7 times
O Allah, every arrogant marid is only a slave among Your creation; without Your permission he has no strength or ability. Break his pride and remove his arrogance from me.
Recite: 7 times
O Allah, O Almighty, O Overpowering! Humiliate every rebellious marid, and as You will, suffice me and protect me from his harm.
Recite: 7 times
Closing surahs and duas
End every session this way. At the end, blow into water and drink it.

The Prophet ﷺ used to recite this dua over Hasan and Husain (may Allah be pleased with them). (Bukhari 3371)

Jibril (peace be upon him) performed ruqyah over the Prophet ﷺ in this way. (Muslim 2186)
O Allah, Lord of mankind! Remove the hardship and grant healing. You are the Healer; there is no healing except Your healing — a healing that leaves no illness behind.
Recite: 7 times
(Bukhari 5743)
📌 Self-ruqyah guideline
Consistency is the key. A little every day, but regularly.
Method — step by step
- Make wudu, then sit somewhere quiet facing the qiblah. Keep your phone away.
- Make the intention: I am asking Allah for healing through the Words of Allah; the Words have no power of their own — the power belongs to Allah.
- Recite the opening duas (Chapter 1).
- Then recite the verses (ayahs) in order. While reciting, blow lightly into both palms and pass your hands over the affected area.
- Recite each verse as many times as stated in the instruction box below it — there is no need to do more or less.
- In between, make dua wholeheartedly in your own language for 15 minutes. If tears come, do not hold them back.
- At the end, recite the closing surahs and duas, then blow lightly into the water.
- Continue every day for at least 40 days. If you miss some days, do not lose heart — simply start again.
Daily schedule
| Morning | After Fajr — verse recitation, 15 minutes |
| Evening | After Maghrib — verse recitation, 15 minutes |
| Night | Before sleeping — closing surahs and duas, drink recited-over water |
| Weekly | One ruqyah bath a week |
Your own dua in your own language (15 minutes)
During or after the recitation of the verses, ask Allah in your own language. Below is a sample — you do not have to read exactly this; say it in your own words.
O Allah, however powerful a marid there may be among Your creation, he has no power without Your permission. O Allah, crush his pride, break his control, and remove him from my body and my home forever. Grant me patience, strengthen my faith, and accept this daily amal from me.
Where to massage the recited-over oil
Focus for Marid Jinn: The crown of the head, forehead, neck, spine and chest
Supplements and weekly practices
| Recited-over water | Recite the ruqyah verses over a bottle of water and blow into it. Drink it 3 times a day: in the morning on an empty stomach, at midday, and at night before sleeping. |
| Recited-over honey | Blow into pure honey and take one spoonful every morning. It is good to recite verse 69 of Surah An-Nahl and then blow into it. |
| Recited-over olive oil | Recite the verses over olive oil, blow into it, and massage it into the affected area. It is best done at night before sleeping. |
| Black seed (nigella) | Every morning, take 7 black seeds with recited-over honey. The Prophet ﷺ said that black seed contains a cure for every disease except death. (Bukhari 5688) |
| Ruqyah bath | Recite the verses over a bucket of water and blow into it. You may also mix in seven crushed jujube leaves. Pour the water over yourself from the head down and bathe, once a week. |
| Spraying the home | Put recited-over water in a spray bottle and spray it in the corners of the house, on the doors and windows, and under the bed. |
Daily practices (amal)
Alongside ruqyah, it is these practices that give long-term protection.
| After Fajr | Surah Yasin 1 time |
| Morning and evening | The morning and evening adhkar from Hisnul Muslim, regularly |
| After Asr | Surah Al-Waqi'ah 1 time |
| At night | Surah Qaf 3 times, Surah Al-Mulk 1 time |
| Before sleeping | Ayat al-Kursi 1 time, the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, and the three Quls 3 times each. Blow into your hands and wipe them over your whole body. |
| Every day | Give sadaqah as much as you can, every day, even if only a little. Sadaqah wards off calamity. |
| Every day | The obligatory salah in congregation, istighfar 100 times, salawat upon the Prophet 100 times |
Ruqyah is a Shariah-based method of treatment; it is not a substitute for necessary medical treatment.
