Introduction — who this protocol is for

This protocol is not for any particular illness — it is for prevention. The biggest mistake in ruqyah is to run to it only after a problem has appeared, and then to give everything up once the problem has passed. It is much harder to attack a person who holds firmly to the morning and evening adhkar every day. This document is for everyone — healthy and unwell alike. It is also the foundation of all the other protocols.

Signs for which this protocol may help

Important note: Most of the signs above can also have ordinary physical or psychological causes. So first get the necessary medical tests and treatment. Ruqyah runs alongside medical treatment, not as a replacement for it. Do not conclude with certainty that someone is affected by sihr or jinn just because a sign matches.
Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an: Saheeh International (via quran.com).

Opening duas

Make wudu and sit facing the qiblah. Make the intention: through the Word of Allah, I am asking Allah alone for healing.
I begin in the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the heavens or on the earth can cause harm; He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Recite: 3 times Nothing can cause sudden harm to the one who recites this dua in the morning and evening. (Tirmidhi 3388)
In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Meaning: Surah Al-Faatiha 1:1, Saheeh International.
Recite: 19 times Before starting the ruqyah, settle your focus and your intention, then recite.
I seek refuge in the perfect Words of Allah from the evil of all that He has created.
Recite: 3 times (Muslim 2708)

The daily foundation

This chapter is to be done every day — not a single day missed. If you do not have time, do at least this much.
1
Surah Al-Faatiha 1:1-7
In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [All] praise is [due] to Allāh, Lord of the worlds - The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Sovereign of the Day of Recompense. It is You we worship and You we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path - The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have earned [Your] anger or of those who are astray.
Recite: 7 times Intention: Surah Al-Fatihah — the greatest ruqyah in the Qur'an
2
Surah Al-Baqara 2:1-5
Alif, Lām, Meem. This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allāh - Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful.
Recite: 1 time Intention: A declaration of guidance and success for the God-fearing
3
Surah Al-Baqara 2:255
Allāh - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
Recite: 7 times Intention: Ayat al-Kursi — Shaytan cannot come near
4
Surah Al-Baqara 2:285-286
The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allāh and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination." Allāh does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."
Recite: 3 times Intention: The final part of Surah Al-Baqarah — a plea for relief from burdens and for forgiveness
5
Surah Al-Ikhlaas 112:1-4
Say, "He is Allāh, [who is] One, Allāh, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
Recite: 3 times Intention: Tawhid — equal to one-third of the Qur'an
6
Surah Al-Falaq 113:1-5
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak From the evil of that which He created And from the evil of darkness when it settles And from the evil of the blowers in knots And from the evil of an envier when he envies."
Recite: 3 times Intention: From the evil of creation, the night, the knots, and hasad
7
Surah An-Naas 114:1-6
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, The Sovereign of mankind, The God of mankind, From the evil of the retreating whisperer - Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind - From among the jinn and mankind".
Recite: 3 times Intention: From the waswasa of jinn and people

Defense on all sides

Once in the morning, once in the evening. Before going out, recite at least the first 9 verses of Surah Yasin.
8
Surah Aal-i-Imraan 3:173-174
Those to whom people [i.e., hypocrites] said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allāh, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs." So they returned with favor from Allāh and bounty, no harm having touched them. And they pursued the pleasure of Allāh, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.
Yā, Seen. By the wise Qur’ān, Indeed you, [O Muḥammad], are from among the messengers, On a straight path. [This is] a revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware. Already the word [i.e., decree] has come into effect upon most of them, so they do not believe. Indeed, We have put shackles on their necks, and they are to their chins, so they are with heads [kept] aloft. And We have put before them a barrier and behind them a barrier and covered them, so they do not see.
Recite: 3 times Intention: Placing a barrier in front and behind
10
Surah Ghafir 40:44-45
And you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Seeing of [His] servants." So Allāh protected him from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment -
Recite: 3 times Intention: Protection from the evil of plots
11
Surah Al-Israa 17:45-46
And when you recite the Qur’ān, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition. And We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And when you mention your Lord alone in the Qur’ān, they turn back in aversion.
Recite: 7 times Intention: An unseen veil
12
Surah An-Nahl 16:98-100
So when you recite the Qur’ān, [first] seek refuge in Allāh from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy]. Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord. His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allāh.
Recite: 7 times Intention: Shaytan has no control over the believer
13
Surah Al-Jinn 72:26-28
[He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before him [i.e., each messenger] and behind him observers That he [i.e., Muḥammad (peace be upon him)] may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord; and He has encompassed whatever is with them and has enumerated all things in number.
Recite: 3 times Intention: Allah appoints guardians

Protection from every side — the evil eye, sihr (magic), jinn

Recite this complete chapter at least two days a week.
14
Surah Al-Qalam 68:51-52
And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes [i.e., looks] when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad." But it is not except a reminder to the worlds.
Recite: 7 times Intention: Warding off the gaze of the evil eye
15
Surah Yusuf 12:67-68
And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against [the decree of] Allāh at all. The decision is only for Allāh; upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely [indeed] rely." And when they entered from where their father had ordered them, it did not avail them against Allāh at all except [it was] a need [i.e., concern] within the soul of Jacob, which he satisfied. And indeed, he was a possessor of knowledge because of what We had taught him, but most of the people do not know.
Recite: 3 times Intention: The caution and tawakkul (reliance on Allah) of Ya'qub (peace be upon him)
16
Surah Al-Kahf 18:39
And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allāh willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allāh'? Although you see me less than you in wealth and children,
Recite: 7 times Intention: Masha'Allah la quwwata illa billah — a shield against the evil eye
17
Surah Al-Baqara 2:102
And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Hārūt and Mārūt. But they [i.e., the two angels] do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic]." And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allāh. And they [i.e., people] learn what harms them and does not benefit them. But they [i.e., the Children of Israel] certainly knew that whoever purchased it [i.e., magic] would not have in the Hereafter any share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew.
Recite: 7 times Intention: The root source of magic and its worthlessness
18
Surah Al-A'raaf 7:117-122
And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. And they [i.e., Pharaoh and his people] were overcome right there and became debased. And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allāh]. They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
Recite: 7 times Intention: The staff of Musa (peace be upon him) that swallowed up the magic

Surah Al-Jinn 72:1-9
Say, [O Muḥammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur’ān [i.e., recitation]. It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son And that our foolish one [i.e., Iblees] has been saying about Allāh an excessive transgression. And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allāh a lie. And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden [i.e., sin]. And they had thought, as you thought, that Allāh would never send anyone [as a messenger]. And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.

📌 Self-ruqyah guideline

Consistency is the key. A little every day, but regularly.

Method — step by step

  1. Make wudu, then sit somewhere quiet facing the qiblah. Keep your phone away.
  2. Make the intention: I am asking Allah for healing through the Words of Allah; the Words have no power of their own — the power belongs to Allah.
  3. Recite the opening duas (Chapter 1).
  4. Then recite the verses (ayahs) in order. While reciting, blow lightly into both palms and pass your hands over the affected area.
  5. Recite each verse as many times as stated in the instruction box below it — there is no need to do more or less.
  6. In between, make dua wholeheartedly in your own language for 15 minutes. If tears come, do not hold them back.
  7. At the end, recite the closing surahs and duas, then blow lightly into the water.
  8. Continue every day for at least 40 days. If you miss some days, do not lose heart — simply start again.

Daily schedule

MorningAfter Fajr — verse recitation, 15 minutes
EveningAfter Maghrib — verse recitation, 15 minutes
NightBefore sleeping — closing surahs and duas, drink recited-over water
WeeklyOne ruqyah bath a week

Your own dua in your own language (15 minutes)

During or after the recitation of the verses, ask Allah in your own language. Below is a sample — you do not have to read exactly this; say it in your own words.
O Allah, keep me and my family in Your protection. Safeguard our deen, our lives, our wealth and our honor. Protect us from in front and behind, from the right and the left, from above and below — from every side. Do not place us in any situation where no one but You can help us.

Where to massage the recited-over oil

Focus for Amal for Comprehensive Protection: Crown of the head and chest — two days a week is enough
