Introduction — who this protocol is for

Every person has a qarin (companion jinn) assigned to them — this is clear in the hadith. The Prophet ﷺ said that his qarin had accepted Islam, so it would only tell him to do good. The qarin cannot be driven out, but its influence can be weakened — through dhikr, salah and the Qur'an. The greatest remedy for waswasa is not to give it importance.

Signs for which this protocol may help

Important note: Most of the signs above can also have ordinary physical or psychological causes. So first get the necessary medical tests and treatment. Ruqyah runs alongside medical treatment, not as a replacement for it. Do not conclude with certainty that someone is affected by sihr or jinn just because a sign matches.
Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an: Saheeh International (via quran.com).

Opening duas

Make wudu and sit facing the qiblah. Make the intention: through the Word of Allah, I am asking Allah alone for healing.
I begin in the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the heavens or on the earth can cause harm; He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Recite: 3 times Nothing can cause sudden harm to the one who recites this dua in the morning and evening. (Tirmidhi 3388)
In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Meaning: Surah Al-Faatiha 1:1, Saheeh International.
Recite: 19 times Before starting the ruqyah, settle your focus and your intention, then recite.
I seek refuge in the perfect Words of Allah from the evil of all that He has created.
Recite: 3 times (Muslim 2708)

Verses to ward off waswasa

When waswasa comes, do not argue and do not analyze — just say A'udhu billah and turn your mind to your task.
1
Surah An-Naas 114:1-6
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, The Sovereign of mankind, The God of mankind, From the evil of the retreating whisperer - Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind - From among the jinn and mankind".
Recite: 11 times Intention: Surah An-Nas — the direct remedy for waswasa
2
Surah Al-Muminoon 23:97-98
And say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils, And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me."
Recite: 11 times Intention: Refuge from the whispers and presence of Shaytan
3
Surah Al-A'raaf 7:200-201
And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allāh. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing. Indeed, those who fear Allāh - when an impulse touches them from Satan, they remember [Him] and at once they have insight.
Recite: 11 times Intention: Seeking refuge immediately when the prompting comes
4
Surah Fussilat 41:36
And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allāh. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

5
Surah An-Nahl 16:98-100
So when you recite the Qur’ān, [first] seek refuge in Allāh from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy]. Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord. His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allāh.
Recite: 7 times Intention: Seeking refuge before reciting the Qur'an

Allāh does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."
Recite: 7 times Intention: Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity

Did We not expand for you, [O Muḥammad], your breast? And We removed from you your burden Which had weighed upon your back And raised high for you your repute. For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease [i.e., relief]. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]. And to your Lord direct [your] longing.
Recite: 7 times Intention: With hardship there is ease

Daily protection

The only lasting way to reduce the influence of the qarin is regular dhikr and salah.
11
Surah Aal-i-Imraan 3:173-174
Those to whom people [i.e., hypocrites] said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allāh, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs." Yā, Seen. By the wise Qur’ān, Indeed you, [O Muḥammad], are from among the messengers, On a straight path. [This is] a revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware. Already the word [i.e., decree] has come into effect upon most of them, so they do not believe. Indeed, We have put shackles on their necks, and they are to their chins, so they are with heads [kept] aloft. And We have put before them a barrier and behind them a barrier and covered them, so they do not see.
Recite: 3 times Intention: Placing a barrier in front and behind

Allāh - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

📌 Self-ruqyah guideline

Consistency is the key. A little every day, but regularly.

Method — step by step

  1. Make wudu, then sit somewhere quiet facing the qiblah. Keep your phone away.
  2. Make the intention: I am asking Allah for healing through the Words of Allah; the Words have no power of their own — the power belongs to Allah.
  3. Recite the opening duas (Chapter 1).
  4. Then recite the verses (ayahs) in order. While reciting, blow lightly into both palms and pass your hands over the affected area.
  5. Recite each verse as many times as stated in the instruction box below it — there is no need to do more or less.
  6. In between, make dua wholeheartedly in your own language for 15 minutes. If tears come, do not hold them back.
  7. At the end, recite the closing surahs and duas, then blow lightly into the water.
  8. Continue every day for at least 40 days. If you miss some days, do not lose heart — simply start again.

Daily schedule

MorningAfter Fajr — verse recitation, 15 minutes
EveningAfter Maghrib — verse recitation, 15 minutes
NightBefore sleeping — closing surahs and duas, drink recited-over water
WeeklyOne ruqyah bath a week

Your own dua in your own language (15 minutes)

During or after the recitation of the verses, ask Allah in your own language. Below is a sample — you do not have to read exactly this; say it in your own words.
O Allah, many of the thoughts that come into my mind are not my own. You know that I do not want them. Free me from this whispering, and bring peace to my heart through remembering You. Do not let me fall into despair.

Where to massage the recited-over oil
